Curtis Tube Fittings’ titanium manifold valves are constructed of Grade 2 or Grade 5 titanium, with strength, corrosion resistance, and light weight. Grade 2 titanium is comprised of about 99.2% titanium and trace amounts of iron (0.3%) and oxygen (0.25%), whereas Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) has 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, and 4% vanadium to provide increased strength. Mechanically, Grade 2’s tensile strength is 345 MPa and that of Grade 5 is up to 895 MPa. Physically, the density for both grades is ~4.5 g/cm³ with a melting point of 1600-1665°C to maintain hardness under extreme conditions.
